Wizard of Oz (comic page) - Ink on Bristol board, 9x12. A single page comic musing. Sadly, this is the only comic-like page I have to show.
Artist Biography...
I was born in St. Ignatius, Montana in 1977. My mother endured seventy two hours of labor and I am the youngest of three children. Starting very young, I started drawing Superman and Batman and have always confessed to be a comic illustrator at heart. I won my first poster contest in Kindergarten and another in first grade while a student at Salazar Elementary School in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Growing up in a family of artists it was by no surprise I became an artist as well.
My mother Joanne had attended the Institute of American Indian Arts as well as my father. In that time, I saw amazing artwork from all different kinds of people in all different kinds of mediums and styles. This exposure helped solidify my dream of becoming a great artist like my mother and father.
My father Tony is a well-established artist in the southwest, a career very long lasting and we’ve collaborated in the past. His influence on me has had a profound impact and since followed in his footsteps of making artwork my profession.
I graduated in 1996 from Two Eagle River School as second in my class. There I had done book illustrations, t-shirt designs, and covers which started my career. After high school I attended The Salish Kootenai College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Liberal arts. After graduated I worked for the college shortly as a webpage designer overseeing page layout and design. Following the web design job I moved full time into commission artwork. I have done several books for the Salish language school Nkw’usm and for the various programs through The Salish Kootenai College. At SKC I took multimedia classes and learned to use computer programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and other web design tools. That led way into utilizing a large portion of my commission in digital form. In addition to contract work, I’ve done many design for t-shirts, events, organizations, and Tribal programs locally as well and many private commission. Projects ranged from pamphlets to poster to road signs.
I've never done any official or published artwork for comics even though it is where I started to fall in love with art.
I had lived in Arlee, Montana for almost fourteen years I’ve relocated to Ronan, Montana and the father of four amazing children and an enrolled member of The Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribe.
